We asked, you answered.

Last month we took to our Facebook and Twitter pages and asked you, our loyal social media marketer audience, what social media updates you were most thankful for this year.

Unsurprisingly, Facebook took the cake for providing the most helpful updates of the year.

Here are the top three updates you were most thankful for in 2014:

1. Easy transition between profiles for admins

As an admin for a business page, you are familiar with having to constantly swap between profiles to manage your social presence. If you have more than two profiles to manage (I can sympathize), then switching between them can get quite confusing. Especially when you are trying to comment or share as one person and accidentally do it as another!

This year, Facebook listened to their disgruntled social media admins and added a new functionality directly in Facebook admin’s profile. See below:

What you are seeing is if I am signed in as myself (Deanna Zaucha), I have the ability to change who I am commenting, liking, or sharing as right within a single post! This makes it easy for me to see who I am posting as, and makes it a lot less painful to act as multiple profiles.

2. Save stories for later in News Feed
This Facebook feature allows you to scroll through your News Feed and save stories you find interesting for later on your Homepage. It is great for curating content while browsing your feed and providing a way to organize articles you want to read later.

I wrote about how you can use this Save for Later feature on the Webs blog step-by-step, but here is a little summary in case you missed it:

Definitely click through to the article if you need more details – it is a great time-saver for a busy business owner!

3. Save Drafts for future posts on Pages
We can’t always control when creativity will strike. That’s why when Facebook allowed us to save drafts of our posts, we all sighed with relief! Now we can start writing an idea for a post, get sidetracked with a slew of meetings, come back to the post right where we left off, and easily publish!

These were some great answers – we’re thankful to our fans for providing them, and to Facebook for making the updates! That said, let’s not forget some of the improvements other social platforms have made to make our social managing jobs a bit easier…

Twitter providing more analytics for business users in the summer and providing analytics to ALL of their users in September.

Snapchat adding video and chat to allow a secure way to exchange money with the tap of a finger.

– Instagram improving their posts by giving users the ability to edit captions after posting.

Were there any social media updates you loved in 2014 that we missed?
