You put a lot of thought into the content you share on social media. And while they say virtue is its own reward, knowing how your thoughtful content is faring on social networks would be pretty rewarding too.
You can get a sometimes get a sense from looking at your website analytics, setting up some Google alerts, and checking the insights on your various social networks, but who has time to cobble all that together for every piece of content shared? On the other hand, if you don’t keep track of your content’s engagement, you’ll never be able to develop best practices and know how to post what your audience will engage with in the future.
Lucky for you (all of us, really) Hubspot has recently introduced a tool called LinkTally to make engagement tracking a much more pleasant undertaking.
Want to know how that last infographic you posted fared? Just copy the hyperlink that you shared on social media, go to www.linktally.com, paste in your link, and poof! You’ll se the activity your link received on leading social networks – Google+, Facebook, LinkedIn, and Twitter.
If the numbers are good, you know that you should concentrate your efforts on similar content going forward. If they’re lacking, you can make a note to focus your energy elsewhere and away from that type of content or subject matter.
LinkTally can also be used to do a little recon work on your competitors, or on relevant websites in your industry. If you see a topic on someone else’s social networks that you’ve been thinking about covering, paste that link into LinkTally and see if it was popular with your shared target audience (i.e., worth your time).
