In 2001, brothers Haroon and Zeki Mokhtarzada were in their last years at the University of Maryland and were designing websites in their spare time. Realizing that there was no easy way for the average person to create a quality website on their own, the two saw an opportunity: to build a solution that anyone could use — even their mother.
As Webs grew by leaps and bounds over the next few years, the leaders saw new opportunities to help small business owners succeed in a world that was becoming ever more digital. As a result, Pagemodo and ContactMe were added to the Webs platform, offering do-it-yourself social media marketing and professional contact management respectively.
In 2011, Vistaprint, a leading online provider of marketing products, took note of the innovations Webs was making in digital marketing, and saw the potential for tremendous synergy. Acquired in December of 2011, Webs is now a subsidiary of Vistaprint, and maintains its own unique startup-inspired culture to this day.
Looking around Webs’ brightly colored Washington, DC area office, it doesn’t take long to get a sense of the company’s culture. Our engineers work in small teams - often side by side with the company’s founders - perfecting current offerings or thinking up the next big thing. Communication flows freely around the open space - from support to marketing to product.
